As you may know and have experienced, moving is a very challenging time for you and your family. It is so easy to get caught up in everything and get overwhelmed. What I have learned over the years is the importance of pacing myself. There have been times that I have unpacked until the early morning hours only to wake up after three hours of sleep to take care of the children only to do it all over again. No fun. Sleep seemed only like a dream come true. Please learn from my mistakes. Even though my kitchen and several rooms were completely unpacked, I was sleep deprived and sick only a week later.
When you are unpacking, think about what is the most important room in your home. For me, it is the kitchen. Once the kitchen is unpacked, I feel as though we are on our way. It is important to push yourself to get the task done but don’t do it at the expense of your health and well being. The boxes will be there and you will get to them. So don’t feel as though you have to do everything all at once. The last thing you want is unpacking, taking care of children, exhausted and sick all at the same time. Trust me. I have walked the mile.
