When you move in to your new home, you will be inundated with boxes. It may seem overwhelming at first. Here are a few tips to help you unpack as smoothly as possible. When you move your boxes in, make sure you take them directly to the room they are labeled. This makes all the difference. This way you have divided and can now conquer the task at hand. With the boxes in the appropriate rooms, you can then focus on the rooms that need to be unpacked first. For me, it is the kitchen. The kitchen is the center of our household and I need to have that unpacked first in order to feel settled.
When unpacking, do something with the item. This may seem like a crazy tip but you have to act on it then. If you don’t you run the risk of having piles of things all over the place, which just adds to the stress. The sooner you take care of it, the sooner you will be settled.
Inevitably you will have boxes of items that you will not know what to do with. It either does not fit in the space or your new decor. I have been guilty of this myself and have stored it in a closet. I must warn you, it may still be there until you move again as I have discovered. If you have it in you, act upon it. Get rid of it, sell it or donate it. It will help free up storage space.
Good luck! Once you are moved in, you will begin to feel settled which is so important.
