It is good to go home. After five long years, I had the opportunity to go back home to Hawaii. It has been an amazing experience. As with any trip like this, it is never enough time to reminisce and enjoy your family. I indulged in all of the foods of my childhood and some new. I will have to work out a ton or wire my jaw shut when I get home to make up for it.
Whether you have moved once or twice or a ton like I have, it is always good to go home. We lead such busy lives and things get in the way. We have budgets, time constraints and some other reason why we can’t make it back. Trust me. This recent trip home was enlightening. It showed me the importance of making time for the little things. Seeing my Aunt, who is 86 years young and listening to her funny stories and belly laugh. Meeting my cousin’s husband and beautiful baby boy. Having dinner with my cousin and laughing so hard I cried. Save for that trip home. Life is short. So, make an opportunity when there may not be one. You will be glad you did.
